Laser Hair Removal
Laser Hair Removal is a medical procedure that utilizes lasers to remove any unwanted hair located on the body. Typically this procedure works better with dark hair, due to the fact that the laser targets dark pigmentation that is found in the hair. This pigmentation is called melanin. The intense light from the laser reaches the hair follicle and destroys it instantly. Numerous patients have elected to have Laser Hair Removal performed on the back, legs, arms, chin, and upper lip.
Alternative to Laser Hair Removal Treatment include Electrolysis, shaving, waxing, depilatory creams, and tweezing.

During the treatment, the laser emits a focused beam of light, which only affects the melanin of the hair follicle. The light is pulsed in that area for only a fraction of a second. The duration of each pulse is merely long enough to disable the follicle, in order to prevent growth. The specific area of skin that is within the treated area is unaffected by the light. In fact the heat from the Laser is not even transferred to the skin.
Many individuals desire Laser Hair Removal for a variety of reasons. Unwanted hair can be embarrassing as well as tedious to take care of. At BeautySculptSpa, both men and women have sought treatment for unwanted hair on the facial area or any other part of the body. Excessive hair growth can result from side effects of medication, hormonal imbalances, or predisposition. Unfortunately, Laser Hair Removal does not work as well on white, gray, blond, or red hair. This is due to the laser light targeting the melanin of the hair follicle and dark hair produces a deeper hue of melanin than that of lighter hair colors.
Typically, patients find that the results are excellent, but may not be perfect or permanent within the first series of treatments. This is a procedure that with each treatment you may expect to see a significant reduction in both quantity and the thickness of the hair follicles (within the treated area).
Lasers for Hair Removal offer an extraordinary track record for both safety and accuracy. BeautySculptSpa of McAllen has performed thousands of Laser Hair Removal Treatments. It is common for the treated area to appear red after treatment. Most patients find that pain is mild and transient. Side effects are highly uncommon. Typically, there is no recovery time after treatment. Discomfort during the treatment can vary for each individual. A topical anesthesia may be utilized for discomfort depending on the individual patient’s preferences or tolerances. At the consultation appointment, please discuss any concerns regarding discomfort with the physician.
It is important that prior to treatment a patient does not was, pluck, or have electrolysis done for at least 4 weeks before the consultation/treatment. It is okay to clip or shave hair within the treatment area up to 3 days prior to treatment. If you are seeking treatment along the upper lip, it is important to let the physician know if you have a history of cold sores or fever blisters. We highly recommend that sun exposure, tanning, or any form of tanning creams be avoided for at least one month before a treatment, as well as another 4 weeks after treatment.
