Restylane Injections

What is Restylane? Restylane is an injectable gel used as cosmetic dermal filler. It is the first only dermal filler made of a clear gel called Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. Restylane is able to enhance a patient’s natural look by restoring volume in the skin for an overall revitalized appearance. Many people choose it as their dermal filler of choice because hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body and is completely biodegradable.

How Does Restylane Work? Resylane can be injected to the skin of the lip, wrinkle or fold of a patient. The hyaluronic acid this cosmetic filler is based on works together with the human bodies own natural supply of hyaluronic acid to create volume. With Restylane, patients can achieve a more youthful and healthy appearance that can last between 4-9 months. The results of the filler can be seen almost immediately.

Is Restylane Safe? Due to the fact that hyaluronic acid is already naturally present in the human body and the main component of Restylane, the skin does not react to the material. With over 100,000 people treated with the use of this dermal filler, there has been only a small amount of reactions that have temporary redness, swelling, itching or tenderness.Immediately after having the wrinkle treatment, there may be some slight swelling and redness around the area. This is a normal reaction to the injection and regularly goes away in the first day or two.

Do Restylane Injections Hurt? Any pain felt during the treatment can vary from person to person depending on their sensitivity to pain. There is no anesthesia used for the treatment and just a small prick of the needle is felt. To some people, they consider Restylane injections painless. For injections into the lips however, there is more sensitivity. In some cases a nerve block will be used to ease pain of the lip injections. After having the injections, the patient should hold an icepack to the area for about 15 minutes to reduce possible swelling.
